About myself
Yasmine Amal is a self-taught artist based between Casablanca and Berlin. Her work explores identity, indigeneity, and spirituality within an elemental and metaphysical space, unfolding through bold colors and rhythmic patterns.
As an Indigenous futurist, she creates narrative spaces in which the canvas becomes a site for radical change. Her intuition-based approach channels sensuality and ancestral energy, inviting viewers into a playground for imagination that awakens childlike wonder. She interweaves stories of resilience and softness with questions of identity and power within the different dimensions of colour and texture.
Rooted in her Amazigh heritage, her creativity is deeply nourished by her connection to nature. Among these elements, the ocean—a recurring motif—embodies the fluidity of belonging and return, guiding her artistic journey as both inspiration and metaphor.
Her works have been featured in group exhibitions at venues such as Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, Artorium, and Mordan Art Gallery in Casablanca. She is a finalist for the Prix Mustaqbal, an award recognizing emerging artistic talents in Morocco. She currently prepares her first solo show, opening 23/1 at Gallery Grolman in Berlin. Alongside her practice she holds creative workshops, cultivating spaces for cross-cultural dialogue, resilience, and empathy.
