About myself
Yasmine Amal is a self-taught artist based between Casablanca and Berlin. Her work explores identity, indigeneity, and spirituality within an elemental, metaphysical space through bold colors and patterns.
As an Indigenous futurist, she creates narrative spaces where the future is a site for radical change. Her paintings invite observers to dive into collective imagination and remind them of their agency within shaping society. She uses Amazigh symbols as a pathway to futures beyond the Anthropocene. Within the different dimensions of colour and texture she interweaves stories of resilience and softness with questions of identity and power.
Rooted in her Amazigh heritage, Amal’s creativity and symbolism are deeply nourished by her connection to nature. The ocean, a recurring motif in her work, embodies freedom, ancestral memory, and the fluidity of belonging and return, serving as both inspiration and metaphor for her artistic journey.
Through workshops she offers space for cross-cultural dialogue, resilience and empathy. Her works have been featured in group exhibitions in Berlin, most recently at the gallery of Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien. She is currently listed as a finalist for the Prix Mustaqbal, a prestigious award recognizing emerging artistic talents in Morocco.
